About NS Painting & Contracting

The company was founded and is run by Kevin and Mark. When you call, you are speaking to the people who will actually be responsible for your project — not a call centre or a sales representative who hands you off to a crew you have never met.

You deal with the same people throughout. The person who walks your home and writes the estimate is involved in delivering it, which matters because details discussed at the estimate do not get lost between a salesperson and a crew. If anything changes mid-project, you talk to someone who already knows your job.

Ask us and we will provide our current certificate of insurance before work begins. You should ask that of any contractor you are considering, and be wary of anyone reluctant to produce it. A verbal assurance is not the same as a document with dates and coverage on it.

Everything from a single room or a front door through to full interior and exterior repaints. Small jobs are genuinely welcome — many long-term customers started with one room. If a project is outside what we can do well, we will say so rather than take it on and do a mediocre job.

Yes. Offices, rental units, common areas and small commercial buildings are all work we do. Commercial projects are usually scheduled around the operating hours of the business so the disruption lands where it causes least trouble.

We tell you. Accidents are rare because of how carefully spaces are protected, but if something happens you will hear it from us rather than discover it later. That is the point of being insured and of dealing with owners rather than a rotating crew.

Local knowledge shows up in the details — which elevations take the worst weather here, how plaster in older Capital Region homes behaves, when the exterior season realistically opens and closes. It also means accountability. We live and work in the same area, and our reputation here is the only marketing that actually matters.

Tell us and we come back. Every project ends with a walk-through specifically so anything you are not happy with gets caught before we leave. If something shows up afterwards, call — a painter who disappears after the final invoice is not a painter you should hire twice.

We stand behind our workmanship. Ask for the specific terms in writing as part of your estimate so you know exactly what is covered and for how long — and do the same with every quote you compare. Guarantees are only worth what is written down.

Compare the prep, not the price. A quote should say what gets washed, scraped, sanded, filled and primed, which products are used, and how many coats. Two quotes can differ by thousands purely because one includes proper preparation and the other assumes painting straight over the existing surface.
